A Yak!!!We are yak breeders, learning more and more with every calf born. Learning their fears, nobility, and affectionate behavior. To truly know a yak, you must be part of the herd. We are studying and applying training techniques learned and experienced to truly bond with the yak for better-trained behavior. Presently working with bottle fed and weanling calves. Training the yak to lead, pack, and ride.
The yak can be more. The products of the yak are exceptionally light barbless soft wool and good cholesterol/lighter tasting gourmet meat. They are also easy to raise and a delight to watch.
To watch our heard, running in the cool evening, fall, or winter air is a delight. The yak raises its tail like a flag while running and hopping with the rest of the herd.
The yak or yak/cross can be raised in conventional fencing for livestock. They will also herd with whatever livestock; they are raised with.
The pure yak as well as 1st generation yak/cattle crossbreeds will give like products (except for the quality and quantity of pure yak wool). The advantages of the yak/cattle cross are generally faster growth rate for the meat market and with yak/crosses of cow milking breeds - milking industry perspectives.
What else can be asked for in livestock? The yak can give it all, i.e. easy to raise, trainable, excellent products, and a delight to watch.
With Tails Raised and Hopping With Joy! Keep on Yakkin!
